Someone e-mailed me and suggested I make a page about the first day, and I decided I should! The first day can be VERY confusing and hard! Here's a bunch of tips/hints for you, so that your first day isn't a total waste!
Get familiar with the area. Push the select button to see a map of the town and when you go over shops and the hand turns red, hit X and it will tell you what building that is. You should spend your first day exploring the area. It's not vital that you plant crops or anything the first day. The area can be very intimidating and it's easy to get lost.
If you find that you can find your way around, you should start gathering things. You can find flowers and fruits basically everywhere. Everything you find can be sold. (*See selling page to see where to sell things*) If you have time, you can buy some crops from Lyla's Flower Shop.
That's basically what you should do the first day. There's no real rush to get a lot of money because making money is very easy. You should also start talking to villagers within the first week and plant crops too. Also consider capturing a dog (*See Animal page to learn how*).
I would make a complete game walkthrough, but the game has many choices! All you need to remember to do is forage and buy animals, you can survive off of that as there is not much you need to buy!
